Mark your Calendar for a Sperry Hockey Game on Saturday, April 27

Sperry Hockey April 27, 2013Do you need some Sperry hockey in you April?  We miss the ice already. Do you?  Fear not, Commissioner Dave has scored a Sperry hockey game at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 27 at the beautiful LaHaye Ice Center in Lynchburg, VA. Signups will be coming shortly, but we want you to know that this is a confirmed date with the Lynchburg rink. Price has yet to be determined, but figure $20-$25 per player for the extended session.

Sorry we couldn’t get more Sperry hockey games scheduled in April.  Lynchburg didn’t have a bunch of dates to offer, and it looks like they will be shutting down their ice for two weeks in mid to late May.

Meanwhile, please keep an eye on you email inbox out for the signup message and be sure to reply to reserve your spot on the roster. Thanks, and see you on the ice!

LaHaye Ice Center

The LaHaye Ice Center services the student body of Liberty University and the greater Lynchburg area while playing home to the Liberty University ACHA Division I Hockey Men’s and Woman’s hockey teams, as well as the Men’s Division II JV team. Although the LaHaye Ice Center is centrally located on the campus of Liberty University, it is utilized greatly by the community. The Ice Center holds up to 3,000 fans, so feel free to bring a friend or two to Saturday’s Sperry hockey game.

Sperry Hockey Roster – Summer 2013 – NOT!

Looking for your Sperry hockey roster? Sorry. As of March 31, 2013, Sperry Hockey rosterCharlottesville’s Main Street Arena has shut down its ice skating activities for the summer. According to General Manager Will Van der Linde, the rink will open sometime in mid-August. We don’t know the exact date it will re-open, but you can bet Sperry will be back to play as soon as the ice is available.

Please be patient while we try to arrange some games at other rinks in the area. Last year we played in Richmond and Lynchburg. And when those sign-up messages appear in your inbox, be sure to reply and make Commissioner Dave happy. Because we really do want to keep David happy…

Happy Summer

Meanwhile, please have a great summer. Dust off those tennis racquets and golf clubs. Hop on the bike or lace on a pair of running shoes. Or maybe just relax and enjoy the pool as the warmer weather rolls into central Virginia. Before you know it it will be 90 degrees outside with 95 percent humidity, and we’ll all be scratching our heads wondering why the rink isn’t open – just so we could find some place to escape the summer heat!

Thank You

Lastly, we just want to say thank you for all the support you’ve given us this season. The games were always a great escape and great fun. Have a great summer, and we’ll see you when the rink opens back up in August.
