Sorry for the abrupt cancellation of the 9 March game. We were as surprised by the game time change as you were.
Is this the Final Game of the 2016-2017 Season?
We debated cancelling the remaining games this season as well, but we thought we would give it a try and see if enough players and goalies sign up to make it possible to play next week. So this is a test, of sorts. If we get enough players for next Thursday’s game, we will continue to organize games until the Main Street Arena closes on April 2. If not, that’s the end of the season at MSA for the Sperry Marine Hockey Club. So it’s up to you.
Lots of League Games
We know that MSA Hockey Director Gary Jones has scheduled a ridiculous number of adult hockey league games during the remaining weeks of March, so we understand if you don’t want to play yet another hockey game this week. That said, if you do sign up to play, we really need you to make it to the game.
Cancellation Policy Change
Normally we allow people to cancel anytime up to 24 hours prior to the game, and we have a fairly liberal list of exemptions to that policy. However, we’re going to make the cancellation policy more strict for the remainder of the season.
There will be no cancellations allowed within 48 hours of game time. So if you sign up to play but cancel less than 2 days prior to the game, you still have to pay – no exceptions, even if you are ill or your car breaks down. We’re doing this to protect the club financially.
We don’t get a discount when we have fewer players on the ice, and we typically cannot cancel an ice rental on short notice without paying the full price anyway. So we hope you understand.
Sign up ASAP
One last thing. please sign up before the end of the day Friday, 10 March. If we don’t get enough signups by then, we will probably cancel this game (and all the remaining games this season at MSA). Don’t let this be the final game of the 206-17 hockey season at MSA.
